Pigeons

In my reading I ran across this crazy research being conducted to produce pigeon food that turns pigeon dropping into detergent. One of the many problems facing cities today is pigeon droppings. Pigeon droppings contain harmful bacteria that cause all kinds of diseases and are a real problem. This would in effect turn the droppings into an urban disinfectant. Believe it or not, this research project is being funded by the Flemish Authorities.
The designer food that is being developed would modify the bird’s metabolism to change their droppings into a detergent. According to the designer and researcher the new pigeon food would be as harmless as yogurt is to us. Maybe we should ask the birds -chuckle.
The idea being that the pigeons could be incorporated into our houses and cities with feeding mechanisms of some kind, which would allow us to feed them this special feed. Maybe even a pigeon house attached to your car that would direct the birds to deposit the droppings on your windshield where you could then apply water and wash.
Sounds a little silly to me but what do I know?
